I would like to tell you about the dessert I simply adore. It’s simple, healthy, easy to prepare, refreshing and obviously marvelously delicious. I would never thought that such simple and great dessert can be healthy in the same time. But it appears it can. It’s very popular among Jews since it’s their traditional dessert during religious celebrations.
You can change its taste depending on what kind of ingredients you use and how much. There are no strict rules so please do not care so much for the amounts of particular ingredients given below (especially the wine ;-) ). Enjoy your own invention.
This dish has one more advantage that can be helpful especially when you plan a huge dinner and need to prepare few dishes beforehand. It can stay in the fridge for up to 7 days. I haven’t tried to keep it there for so long. It simply didn’t survive so long not consumed. But at least this is theory. The only disadvantage of this dessert can be the fact that you need to prepare it a bit earlier that your planned consumption, since all the flavors have to mix well before serving. So have a look at its simplicity:
Charoset (2 servings)
2 big, sweet apples,
peeled and roughly grated
0.5 cup of walnuts toughly chopped. You can use other nuts alternatively or use a nut mixture.
Handful of raisins if desired.
2 tbsp of sweet red wine.
Mix all the ingredients and put into a fridge for at least 8 hours before serving. That`s it so simple and so delicious. Have a try on your own.
Bon appetit!
